Formed through the consolidation of several smaller common school districts in 1948, the Williamsville Central School District has grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious suburban school systems in Western New York. Serving the Town of Amherst and a portion of Cheektowaga, the district has mirrored the rapid suburban development of the region, evolving from a rural collection of schools to a massive K-12 system that operates thirteen schools, including six elementary, four middle, and three high schools.

Today, the district serves a diverse and growing student population of approximately 10,000 students across Williamsville, East Amherst, and parts of Amherst. The community is characterized by high levels of civic involvement and a strong expectation of academic excellence. Williamsville Schools pride themselves on offering an inclusive educational environment, providing extensive special education resources, English as a New Language (ENL) programming, and advanced college-preparatory coursework to meet the needs of all learners.

The district's core mission is to prioritize student learning, growth, and well-being, fostering a culture where every child can experience success. Through a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum, Williamsville encourages students to become innovative, self-directed, and compassionate lifelong learners who are prepared to navigate a rapidly changing global society. The Board of Education, comprised of nine volunteer community members, establishes policies to ensure academic achievement, physical wellness, and fiscal responsibility.

Williamsville operates several state-of-the-art facilities, including the specialized Williamsville Planetarium, which serves as a unique STEM learning hub for both district students and the broader Western New York community. Known for its powerhouse athletic programs, exceptional music and arts education, and historically high graduation rates (frequently exceeding 95%), the district acts as a major anchor for residential growth in the Northtowns, directly contributing to the high quality of life and property values in the region.
