Chemical Spill Stench Hits North Buffalo

I was driving down Hertel Avenue yesterday and couldn’t help but notice the awful smell in the air. Turns out it was from a chemical spill in Fort Erie - who knew? I mean, I’ve lived in North Buffalo my whole life and never experienced anything like it. The smell was so bad I had to roll up my windows and turn on the AC, even though it was a nice day out. I hope they get it cleaned up soon, for the sake of our neighborhood.

I went to get coffee at Rowhouse Bakery & Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue and everyone was talking about it. The barista said she had to close all the windows at her house on Lincoln Parkway because the smell was so overpowering. It’s crazy how something like this can affect our whole community. Has anyone else noticed the smell?
