BPS Announces Public Meetings for New District Wide School Safety Plan

By Daniel Okafor|Posted: Mar 27, 2026 / 1:20 PM UTC

Buffalo Public Schools will host both virtual and in person meetings in April to discuss updates to the district’s safety plan.

WHY IT MATTERS: This gives parents and nearby residents a direct opportunity to understand and influence school safety policies.

Buffalo Public Schools has announced a series of community meetings to discuss its updated District Wide School Safety Plan. The update is part of requirements under New York State Education Law, and the district is asking for input from parents and residents before final approval.

These sessions are meant to walk attendees through the plan, explain safety procedures, and give the community a chance to ask questions directly to district officials. School leaders emphasized that community involvement is a key part of building effective safety policies.

Two meetings are scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026. A virtual session will take place earlier in the day, followed by an in person meeting from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Stanley Makowski Early Childhood Center on Jefferson Avenue.
