70+ Teams, 1,750 Athletes: Bills Host Biggest-Ever Girls Flag Football Kickoff

This weekend, the Bills Training Center in Orchard Park is turning into the biggest stage girls flag football has ever had in Western New York. The 2026 High School Girls Flag Football Kickoff β€” a joint effort between the Bills, Section VI, Section V, and the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association β€” is bringing in over 70 teams and roughly 1,750 athletes from March 27 through March 29.

Local programs like South Park, Hutch Tech, Mount Mercy Academy, and Nardin Academy will all be on the turf for preseason scrimmages, media day photos, and interviews. It's the biggest version of the event since it launched in 2022, and the growth has been remarkable.

"Flag football is growing quickly in the United States, especially in Western New York," said Bills President of Business Operations Pete Guelli. The sport became officially sanctioned by New York State in 2023, and the athletes showing up this weekend are here to prove they're ready for the spotlight.
